“ Would you lot shut the fuck up?” Dumpster hollered over the crowd.

It had been three days since my accident and also the second worst day of my life. Everyone was up in arms about Hornet’s vanishing act, and they all wanted answers. I had only told a very select few individuals what I had learned at the Lagardia MC. Partially because talking about it never failed to bring on a migraine, and partially because at this point there were very few people I could even trust. I had known Nash for nearly my entire life, and to find out he was in on everything, including the death of my family, threw me for a bigger loop than I had anticipated.

The entire Royal Bastards Detroit chapter gathered for an emergency Church meeting, and since Hornet was of course nowhere to be found, it fell on me to captain the ship. Not only did I need to figure out who was loyal to their patch, but I needed to figure out where Hornet had gone to. If anyone had any leads or suspicions, and how many of them knew about the girls being shipped in and out of here right under our nose.

Lacey’s face clouded my vision. Was she one of the girls Hornet had bought? Did she believe she was property and not a working girl in our club? The thought of her believing she was anything but a free woman made my blood curdle. I had wanted to talk to her immediately after she had stormed away, but she had made it quite clear she wanted nothing to do with me. Even once I had been given the ok to get out of bed, she still refused to see me. With so much on my mind already, I didn’t push, but she couldn’t avoid me for long. I had plans to go see her tonight.

“What the fuck is going on?” Barnie shouted from the front row and I visibly rolled my eyes at him.

“If you all would shut the fuck up, I’ll fill you in.”

I looked around at all of my brothers as they slowly stopped talking and looked up at Dumpster and I.

“We have been betrayed,” I started out my monologue. “It has come to light that Hornet is the one responsible for killing our previous Prez, Stallion and most of his family.”

I let that sink in with the men. Words like “I knew it” and “Bullshit” circled around and I let the guys talk about what they were thinking. When the room quieted down again, I continued.

“We have an eye witness that puts Hornet and Nash at the scene of the murder. Also, as some of you probably have seen, we had a few visitors from other Chapters outside of Detroit. They were here looking to help find answers to our sex trafficking problems within the Royal Bastards. It seems, Hornet was also one of the leaders in that as well.”
